As we head towards a net-zero future, Western Sydney is showing that it is prepared to lead the way. Solar and EV uptake is booming, tree canopy growth is thriving, and new green industries are emerging in the areas of energy, manufacturing, and construction, which are creating new employment and investment opportunities in the region. With population continuing to rise, and new developments, communities and businesses laying their roots in GWS, this growth needs to be balanced against the need for liveable, lovable, sustainable communities that provide future residents with access to jobs, services and amenities.
The Sustainable Cities Summit, hosted by the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue, brought leaders from government, industry and the community together to discuss the future of sustainable urban development in Greater Western Sydney. With the region growing at an unprecedented rate, this summit focused on practical solutions and innovative thinking across transport, energy, infrastructure, housing, health and urban living to create a greener, cleaner and more resilient future for the region.
