The Out There Summit is the Dialogue’s flagship policy and community event, bringing forward innovative ideas for Greater Western Sydney while setting the debate for regional investment, growth, education, health, governance, tourism, arts and social inclusion. Given these unprecedented times, we have made the decision to adapt the 2020 Summit, its fifth year, for the digital stage.
Once again in partnership with School Infrastructure NSW, this year’s Summit featured a 2 ½ hour online session held on Thursday 6 August via Zoom Webinar . This date was deliberately chosen to coincide with NSW Education week.
This event brought together a diverse live audience of 200+ delegates across the community to listen to interviews with high-calibre speakers and to interact with panels from the public and private sectors.
Out There 2020 unpacked the role of Greater Western Sydney when it comes to supporting jobs growth, in particular, examining the skills, knowledge and projects, that can help fuel industry and generate employment opportunities.

We acknowledge and honour Aboriginal People who have cared for Country in Greater Western Sydney for at least 60,000 years and acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we gather today.
The Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue thanks these Traditional Owners and we pay our respects to their Ancestors and Elders – past, present and emerging.
We also acknowledge the vital role played by our Local Aboriginal Land Councils, the modern custodians for all First Nations people who currently live in our region, home to one of the largest urban Aboriginal populations in Australia.
Further, the Dialogue will support the YES campaign in the Voice to Parliament referendum. This recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia and reflects our pride that Greater Western Sydney is home to one of the largest urban Indigenous populations in this country.
