The Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue has welcomed the Federal and NSW Government’s $1 billion joint-funding commitment to build the 15th Avenue Transit Corridor, connecting Liverpool to Western Sydney International Airport when it opens in late 2026.

The announcement follows years of advocacy from Liverpool City Council and the Dialogue to ensure major centres like Liverpool are connected to the jobs and opportunities presented by the Airport precinct.

“This corridor will be pivotal to the success of the Western Sydney Aerotropolis and better enable Liverpool to take advantage of the strategic opportunities that the Airport will deliver,” Dialogue CEO, Adam Leto said.

“This funding commitment is one of the most significant pledges that will ensure the success of the Airport from day one, and both the NSW Premier and Prime Minister deserve plenty of credit for this major investment in South-West Sydney

“Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun and the Council should also be recognised for years of sustained campaigning with the project set to play a key role supporting future growth of the area.

“We thank the Albanese Government and the Minns government for their commitment to 15th Avenue and look forward to hearing more about the Federal Government’s plans to ensure Greater Western Sydney is ready for when the airport opens its doors, late next year.

“The Prime Minister has often spoken about Greater Western Sydney being the engine room for jobs, economic growth and opportunity for Australia; this commitment reflects that.”
