The Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue has welcomed the Australian Government’s commitment to invest nearly $500million in roads and infrastructure projects for Greater Western Sydney.

Dialogue Chairman, Christopher Brown AM, said investment in the region will drive jobs, improve accessibility for local residents and help future proof the area against natural disasters.

“This Western Sydney spending boost is the right move not only for the region, but for the country’s long-term growth and economic prosperity,” Mr Brown said.

“By investing in safe, accessible and connected transport infrastructure, the Federal government is building a better future for all.

“For years we have advocated for the life-saving Castlereagh Connection in North-West Sydney, so I’m delighted that the Prime Minister has delivered on the government’s election pledge and committed $50 million for planning and preparatory works.

“We also thank Catherine King MP, the Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.

We’re grateful that she listened and delivered – this is a great public policy outcome.

“We look forward to welcoming Minister King at our upcoming Boomtown! Property & Infrastructure Summit at Accor Stadium on 8 December.

“The Dialogue appreciates the new government keeping its election promise to get this evacuation road moving. However, we still await a response from the Prime Minister and the NSW Premier on our demand for a joint community summit to discuss flooding issues of safety and sustainability in the Hawkesbury Nepean floodplain.”

As part of a $1 billion election commitment announcement for vital infrastructure projects in New South Wales in the October budget, the Labor Government has committed to $300 million for the Western Sydney Roads Package, which includes $50 million towards the Castlereagh Connection, $37 million for Richmond Road planning and $75 million for planning and early works in the North West Growth Corridor.
