Back in 2006, three young Cabramatta housemates had a great idea – to open a takeaway store in the heart of the Western Sydney suburb.
The concept was Sushi Hub, and it’s a vision that has paid off handsomely for the friends who continue to work together today, building on an ever-expanding empire that now has 170 stores across Australia
and counting. Alongside James Chen and Leon Li, Raymond Chen is one of the three founding directors. He told Best of the West why they chose their hometown Cabramatta.
“Cabramatta was an exciting melting pot of cultures. Opening a sushi shop among other styles of Asian food seemed better business than opening somewhere that didn’t have a community that so openly and adventurously enjoyed different food styles. “We wanted to give the public something different and healthy that they didn’t have preconceived ideas about. “And as it happened – we were right. 18 years later we still adhere to our original philosophy of quality and freshness.”
